Victoria Garza, DO

-     Hometown: San Antonio, TX
-     Medical school: University of Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine
-     Residency clinical site: Central
-     Family Medicine Interest: OMM, procedures, advocacy
-     Hobbies/interests: exploring local cafes, international eateries, and local activities/events, especially in the Fall and Winter. If I have time for a chill evening, I like watching multinational dramas (K-dramas, Thai-dramas, C-dramas, and Turkish dramas), and bonding with my fellow co-residents
-     Why Sparrow: Two things were very important to me – 1) getting signed off on as many procedures as possible for full spectrum care, and 2) protection from a concerning government while I train. Residency is stressful enough, and I didn’t want to be worried about how the government will impact my patients or my future practice.  So, when I was interviewed, I asked pointed questions that gave me the reassurance I needed. The Sparrow faculty also demonstrated in words and actions that they promote hands-on learning. For example, I got certified in Nexplanon insertion and removals during my orientation...just as they said during the interview. As a bonus: Sparrow is part of the University of Michigan, which contains various fellowships to choose from as Family Medicine Resident who’s already training their system.
